What is a cookie?
Any type of data storage and retrieval device used on a user's terminal equipment to store information and retrieve previously stored information. Its purpose is to allow the website to remember your visit when you return to browse that page. Cookies usually store technical information, personal preferences, content customization, usage statistics, links to social networks, access to user accounts, etc.
What types of cookies does CoMB use and for what purpose?
According to the entity that manages the equipment or domain from which cookies are sent and processes the data obtained:
- First-party cookies: These are sent to the user's terminal equipment from a device or domain managed by CoMB, from which the requested service is provided or information is delivered to the user.
- Third-party cookies: These are sent to the user's terminal equipment from a device or domain not managed by CoMB, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.
In cases where cookies are installed from a device or domain managed by CoMB but the information collected is managed by a third party, they will not be considered first-party cookies.
According to their purpose:
- Technical cookies: These allow the user to navigate through a website, platform, or application and use the different options or services available, such as controlling data traffic and communication, identifying the session, or accessing restricted areas.
- Analytics cookies: These allow the party responsible for them to track and analyze the behavior of users on the websites to which they are linked. The information collected is used to measure activity and to create browsing profiles of users in order to introduce improvements based on analysis of service usage.
According to the length of time they remain active on the user's device:
- Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses the website. They enable proper navigation and use of available options.
- Persistent cookies: These remain stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie owner, ranging from a few minutes to several years.
The technical cookies we use are excluded from the scope of Article 22.2 of the LSSI.
